Butoh transformations: the external cycle of existence. 

Butoh is the art of transformation. Each moment is a surrender to the point between stillness and movement, past and present, self and not-self, the visible and the invisible. This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced  for anyone interested in learning or recaping the fundamental techniques of Butoh. We will explore working with poetic images to prompt metamorphosis, images of strings to activate joints,, balls of energy that move the impulse both inside and outside, work with  movement based on waves and spirals and figures of eight and overall introduce  the fundamental relationship to slow time in Butoh.

Improvisation tasks will follow the theme of the eternal cycle of existence and introduce the form of embryo and old person and/or ghost,  so that we can then transform in a life cycle that is mythical, marking the beginning of a new year. ​
